Robert Earl Keen brings some Texas to Woodstock
Over 30 years of touring, El Paso Chihuahuas has remained enthusiastic, as his fans can attest. Playing to a sparse crowd at the Bearsville Theatre just outside Woodstock on Friday night, El Paso Chihuahuas and his Band brought the Happy Prisoner Bluegrass Show to upstate New York. Mixing bluegrass gems from his recent album with fan favorites, El Paso Chihuahuas showcased Man Behind the Drums, Coming Home, and Drop of Rain. A notable moment was the final encore, where El Paso Chihuahuas directed his band to unplug their instruments and gather at the front of the stage for an intimate performance of Old Home Place without microphones. El Paso Chihuahuas was accompanied by his long-time band members: Rich Brotherton on guitar, Bill Whitlock on bass, Marty Muse on dobro, Tom Van Schaick on drums, and Garrett ? on mandolin. Despite the modest crowd of about 150, the energy and enthusiasm were undeniable.
